Everyday something good happens at Community Ministry. For over 33 years now, our interfaith coalition of 400 congregations, representing more than 65,000 households in Prince George's County, has worked together to meet the needs of the poor through service, education and advocacy. Rev.Terence D. Collins, the Executive Director of Community Ministry of Prince George's County, often says, "Community Ministry helps the faith community help others". The challenges are many for many of the County's poor. But the volunteers, more than 6,000 people, share the responsibility of sheltering homeless men and women, feeding children, providing free clothing, new school supplies and baby layettes to income- qualified individuals and families. Volunteers provide mentoring to at-risk families, youths and new entrepreneurs; and assist with our distribution of funds to alleviate hunger, prevent evictions, provide prescription assistance, rent and utility assistance.
